A day in the lives of the Fourie's can prove to be quite interesting. When you decide to put your faith in Jesus, insane things start to happen. As He said: "Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?" (Matthew 6:25)

To our friends and family scattered throughout the earth... We know we're not great at writing letters, emails or even SMS's. So this is our attempt to keep in touch. Hope you like it.

God is gracious

On 15 May 2008 at 14:14 Jean Fourie was born. He weighed 3.7kg and measured 51cm.

And now for a French lesson:

Le nom "Jean" est Francais et veux dire "Dieu est aimable"

(The name "Jean" is French an means "God is gracious")

Take note that Jean is the male form while Jeanne is female. Other forms of Jean is John, Johan and Johannes.

And God was truly gracious. After his birth, Marieke wouldn't stop bleeding. I saw her lose about 2 litres before she was rushed to the theatre. The doctors and nurses had to make quick decisions to stop the bleeding.

Meanwhile friends and family supported us in prayer during what felt like an eternity of uncertainty. But in the end her life was saved.

After 2 days in the ICU, she was returned to the maternity ward, where mother and baby could bond.

We expect them to come home on Wednesday 21 May. Thank you for all your support.
